Downloading Alumni Data from the Data Tab

Written by Amanda Kallach

The Data tab in Graduate Insights is a downloader tool for your alumni data. You can filter the data before you download it, so you get current, row-level data on just the alumni you need, ready to use in your own reports, systems, and analyses.

Key features

Filtered downloads

  • Choose the data you want with the filtering options, then download only that. You don’t have to pull a full file and trim it yourself.

Always the latest data

  • All alumni data in the downloader is the most recent version, so you never have to work out which file is current.

Persistent alumni IDs

  • Each alumni record has a persistent ID that stays the same from one data release to the next. You can match records across releases directly, with no cross-reference files.

How to download your data

  1. Log in to Graduate Insights and open the Data tab.

  2. Choose your filters.

  3. Review your selections.

  4. Click Download CSV.

Working with persistent IDs

Because each alumni record keeps the same ID across releases, you can:

  • Track changes over time. Compare this download with an earlier one to see how outcomes have changed for the same alumni, such as new jobs, promotions, or moves to a new location.

  • Join to your own systems. Store the ID in your CRM, data warehouse, or institutional research database, then refresh records with each new release instead of re-matching from scratch.

  • Build repeatable reports. Dashboards and spreadsheets keyed on the ID can be refreshed with each new download without re-mapping records.

Ways to use your downloads

Teams across campus use alumni data for many purposes. Here are some common ones.

Institutional research and accreditation

  • Support program review and accreditation reporting with alumni outcome data.

  • Answer state or system reporting requests on graduate outcomes.

  • Compare outcomes across programs, colleges, or graduating cohorts.

Academic leadership and program planning

  • Show how graduates of a program are doing in the workforce.

  • Spot the employers and industries that hire your graduates.

  • Inform curriculum and new-program decisions with real outcome data.

Career services and employer relations

  • Find the employers that hire the most alumni, and use that list for employer outreach and partnerships.

  • Connect current students with alumni working in fields they’re interested in.

  • Share outcome stories by major in advising and career coaching.

Advancement and alumni relations

  • Update alumni records with current employer, job title, and location.

  • Find alumni in a region to invite to local events or chapters.

  • Spot alumni in leadership roles for volunteer, mentoring, or giving programs.

Marketing and enrollment

  • Back up program pages and recruitment materials with outcome data.

  • Share where graduates work and what they do with prospective students and families.
